I'm in Oregon with K and B right now. K and I are sharing a hotel room, while B and mom camp... in the rain and thunderstorms. I think we got the better deal, what do you think?

We hung out at the campground for a while today in between B's games (tournament!)... in a span of five minutes K went from happy and giggling to screaming, crying and injured because she managed to fall off the merry-go-round and then flip off the swing, backwards. When did she learn how to pump on the swing anyhow? I'd still prefer to stick her in the baby swing!

We then went to the mall and did some shopping. We had about an hour and a half and hit pretty much every shop that looked interesting. It was fun.

Right now, K is sleeping and I just finished watching one movie and went on to my regular one-episode-of-a-tv-show-before-bed routine.

I am utterly exhausted, seeing as how K kept kicking me in the stomach all night last night!

After a rough couple of days, my kids are finally getting used to me. They earned all 6 of their extra recess minutes today which is a first and I only had three or four move their clips today.

I've also been complimented by the principal twice. Once during my observation last week and again when he said something about putting me into this class being a good move. Obviously he's seen something that he likes in my teaching!!

I just hope that the kids keep it up - there's only 16 days of school left after all!

So tired.
So busy.
Real post later.

Although, I have to comment on the number of hits I get each day/week because of the post I made last June about Jason and Chantal Kendall.

Beginning Monday, I will be a second grade teacher for the rest of the school year (approximately 5 weeks). I have no plans and an out of control classroom to teach in, but I know I can handle it. I plan to walk in on Monday and talk about three expectations (be respectful, be responsible and do your best) and the rewards for doing so. We will also clean. Because the amount of papers on the floor and in the cubbies is out of control and I won't last.

There's nothing quite like the principal asking if he can talk to you in private to make you absolutely terrified. And yet, this is awesome, because if I do well he may interview me for a job come fall, which could make my student teaching a paid internship instead! If that happens, I am absolutely moving out of my parents house this summer, which would be great because I'm tired of being told what I can and cannot do on a never-ending basis. If not, I'll be done in December and the soonest I'll be moving out is February - which seems so far away.

Wish me luck. Any first day of school advice? I'll take any I can get!
