I have a computer again! Yay!
I also am successfully "borrowing" wireless from a neighbour.
I can't wait to watch an episode of something tonight before I go to bed. And the best part? The DVD I'd left in the drive when I sent it away came back. I was kind of concerned.
In other news, I don't think I can sub in fifth grade. Ever again. They were out of control today. Like really out of control. I didn't think I was going to make it until the end of the day. I wanted to leave by 11.
It was quite the change from the cute preschoolers I had M, T and W. I'm working tomorrow, but the secretary didn't tell me for who. That should be interesting.

I really out to post here occasionally I suppose. As soon as my computer comes back I will. For now, I've been doing a school project by hand waiting until I have free time to type it all at once. I may copy and paste bits of what I've already said, with minor tweaking, since it requires repeating myself without actually doing so.
I've been subbing just about every day for the past two weeks (actually since Thursday the 15th, I've worked every school day and I'm working at least three days this week although that'll probably grow).
15th - Early Childhood
16th - 5th grade
19th - 2nd grade
20st - 1st grade
21st - Kindergarten (my first K experience and it was full day!)
26th - Early Childhood
27th - Early Childhood
29th - Either 5th or 2nd grade
Notice the lack of 3/4s in there? Because I do. I used to think I was going to teach 3rd or 4th grade one day, but it seems as though I'm being led a different direction.
I still don't know where I'm going to student teach. It'll more than likely be in a 2nd grade class at one of two schools. It'd be really nice to have it all settled. Like seriously - it begins in a month and a half and I still don't have placement. Why is it that it always happens that way to me?
In addition to a ton of subbing I've watched K and B no less than 3 days a week all month. It's been fun - but at the same time exhausting. Hopefully December will settle down. However, with graduation and Christmas on the horizon things don't look too promising (ooh, two weeks off of school sounds good though).

I'm getting my camera for Christmas!
Actually it'll be here in two days and I plan to attempt to convince the parents that I should be allowed to have it for graduation instead.
Yay!
I hope that everyone had a great day (all three of you that might actually still read occasionally).
And now, back to the stressful project before I student teach. Even if I still don't know who that'll be with...

Is it too early to buy Christmas cards? I certainly hope not - because I did today.
I also bought a book that Sassy recommended a long time ago - At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. Seeing as how I don't have my computer for a while, I'll be needing something to read. Usually I read a little and then watch something (Gilmore Girls or One Tree Hill, typically) on my computer before going to bed. I'm bored with my books though - I've read most of them multiple times.
B and I discovered a new park today. Well, actually the park has only been open for about a week or two, so I guess most people have just discovered it as well. It has a tennis court, skate park, two basketball courts and a baseball field on top of an amazing playground. I have a feeling we'll go there often.
Tomorrow I am subbing in an early childhood class (also know as preschool or prekindergarten, I'm not sure if I'm in a 3s or 4s class). That should be fun. It'll be like spending the day with 20 K's. Wish me luck!

Just try to find a theme is this one - because I have a feeling it's not going to exist.
My computer is still broken. Meaning the only way I can get online is to use dialup, or my parents' computer, which has high speed. I'm taking mine in tomorrow morning, since I don't work until 11:30. Updated - in 2 to 4 weeks I'll have a computer again. That sucks. Big time. Don't you think that occasionally the "geek squad" should be able to actually fix the computer? Best line of the day (when I expressed frustration at the four week quote - "it has to go all the way to Fremont, CA to HP. Fremont is a total of less than 250 miles away - not much further than baseball. Argh!
Tomorrow, I'm subbing 1/2 day in a team teach class. I've now been both teachers in two of the three team classes I've subbed in. That's kind of fun, because you get to meet both teachers and see how styles mesh. Also, next semester is going to be a lot like team teaching because the lead teacher will be in the room most of the time.
I spent the day shopping with my mom. We went to find fabric to reupholster the motor home that caught on fire while my parents were driving down the road in July.
Yesterday I picked up K and B's parents' Christmas gift. Which means I'm done with that house completely. Unless I decide to find a pair of shoes for K, since we went shopping on Saturday and she was sized at an 8 1/2, but the salesperson said to buy a 9. Most of her shoes are 7 1/2s or 8s, so I'll probably find something to match her outfit. However, I will definitely be picking an 8 1/2 because she tried on about a million pairs and all of the 9s were far too big.
I need to find shoes for me too. The cat has apparently been attacking my favourite tennis shoes so I need a new pair. Even if I do own like a million pairs of shoes. I tried on a bunch today but didn't love any.
I'm going to a conference with my church at the beginning of January and last year I needed a scholarship, but this year I don't so I'm going to donate at least 1/2 of a scholarship, although it might be more depending on how much I sub.
I sent out graduation announcements last week - and they made it everywhere, including to Canada by the end of the week. Yay! I also convinced my parents to get a hotel room the night before because there was NO WAY I was going to drive an hour to be at graduation by 8 in the morning (or earlier). Seeing as how I don't even care and they are making me participate to begin with.
I've spent 9 of the last 14 days at K and B's house, which has been fun, but exhausting, especially on the days that I have subbed as well. I came home on Thursday night and was in bed before 9. B and his mom are going out of town for the entire week of Thanksgiving, so I'll probably be responsible for picking up K and getting her to school in the morning. Hopefully her old daycare will take her for a couple hours a day so that I can work. One of her schools is in session, while the other is not, so that's kind of tricky.
I think I should stop rambling now, and head to bed.

Yesterday was my first day in fifth grade. I hadn't planned to EVER teach fifth grade, but I was unaware of the grade level when I accepted the position. So I went.
And you know what? It was actually kind of fun. There were 25+ students in the class, which means that it was loud, but other than that there weren't any problems.
The teacher had left me a list of "problem children" but you know what? They were some of the better students in the class for me. She also left them little notes asking them to behave because "behaviour reports" go home on Friday. One of them asked several times if he was having a good report day and I can honestly say that if I didn't have a warning about him I would never have known that there were issues in the past. I'd say that's pretty good, wouldn't you?
Definitely makes me less nervous about the position at the end of the month!
I also FINALLY got my name on the list at one of the local elementary schools. Where there's a chance I'll be student teaching. I ran into one of the teachers the other night and I'd really like to student teach with her and I can't get ahold of the one who had requested me. I'll give her until Monday or Tuesday and then I'll say something to the university

I now have high speed internet at home - YAY!
However, it won't work on my laptop - BOO!
So for now, I have to use my parents' computer, which sucks because everything I like to read on the internet is one my computer.
I think I'll go into BestBuy and see if they can help. For now, posting may be rare again. Just when I was beginning to get back into the swing of things.
Darn.

I just realized that my email address is anonymous again, which means that if I leave a comment people can't email me to respond. I think I'm confident that I'm fairly safe here again, so I'm going to worry a little less about anonymity - this doesn't mean that I'm going to post pictures or reveal real names or anything.
K and B and I spent the day in the city where I went to school on Saturday. We went to a fundraiser at the Montessori school, to a birthday party and to do something as a surprise for their parents for Christmas (which I don't think they'll spill, but if they do, it's okay, I guess). They had another birthday party later in that day back where they live so it was a busy day. K was exhausted and cuddly so I hung out at the second party (also, it was a little girl who was in my very first preschool class and is now turning 9, so it was fun to hang around).
I was at K and B's house five days last week, Tuesday through Saturday, which was nice. I miss those kids SO much. I'll be there twice this week, Thursday for a couple hours and Friday for about five hours. I don't know what we'll do, but it doesn't really matter. We'll have fun no matter what.
Okay, now I'm off to change a few settings.
